For those of you who don’t know what BTTA is, here’s the lowdown: It’s short for Blogs To Talk About. For whoever is interested can e-mail me at email@example.com and in the subject put BTTA or Blogs To Talk About, and in the message put your name and a link to your blog for me to check it out. Then I will contact you and send you a list of questions and when you respond I will set up a post. So, if you are interested in it, send me an e-mail! For past BTTAs go HERE
What’s the story behind the blog name?
I don’t really have an interesting story for this one. I’ve always been addicted to reading and books and some of my friends began to call me a book-a-holic so it just kind of stuck.
Why did you start to book blog and how long have you been book blogging?
I started to blog about books as a way for me to share my opinions with people on the books I loved or hated. I also hoped to meet people who share the same passion as I do for reading since none of my friends are really big readers. I’ve been blogging for almost 3 months now and I have loved every single minute of it!
Where is your favorite place to read?
I would have to say curled up on the couch in my living room. It’s probably the comfiest place I read but I will read pretty much anywhere.
Hardcopy. I just prefer the feeling of a physical, paper book in my hands. I just love the way the paper feels and smells and it would be pretty weird if I sat there and smelled an e-reader. Besides I don’t really have the patience to sit and read a ton of e-books (I do read some on occasion) since staring at a screen for extended periods of time tends to bother my eyes.
Favorite book of all-time and why?
While I read mainly young adult books my favorite book of all time is actually a classic. It’s The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I read this book my junior year of highschool (4 years ago!) and it’s always stuck with me. I just love the world that you’re introduced to where you’re judged based on whether or not you’re “new money” or “old money” and it’s also set in the roaring twenties during prohibition so there’s tons of illegal activities going on, such a boot-legging. There’s also this really sweet love story involved and then there are scenes where you just have your heart torn out and run over.
Do you have any blogs/bloggers that you look up to or that inspire you (feel free to name-drop)?
There are tons of bloggers that I look up to. Megan at The BookBabe and Jessica at JessabellaReads are the two main ones since they’ve been so helpful and nice.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Reading is the main thing I do, but I also like to take time to watch movies and hang out with my sister, which most of the time involves trips to the mall or Barnes and Noble. I also really enjoy watching the tv show Criminal Minds so whenever I have a chance I like to sit down and watch that as well.
Name a dessert, a color, a drink?
Blueberry pie. Purple. Coffee.
If you could be one character, who would you be and why?
I would like to be Aria from Under the Never Sky. She starts off as an extremely sheltered girl but turns into a tough fighter who does what she must to protect the one’s she cares about. Plus she’s dating Perry, so that’s a major plus as well! And her best friend is the funniest guy ever so there’s always something hilarious going on.
How many books (on average) do you read a month?
It really depends on how much I have going on but it can be anywhere between 5-10 books.
What are your favorite book-to-movie adaptations? Why?
Pretty much all of the Stephen King movies. I just love his books and the way the movies are made really makes the story that much frightening since now I have a visual for what scared me horribly while reading the books.
Do you have any book boyfriends? If so, name them and explain why?
I actually have way too many. So I’ll just give you four because this would go on all day if I were to post every single fictional guy I have as a book boyfriend lol.
1. Perry from Under the Never Sky & Through the Ever Night. He’s so caring and fights for what he believes is right. He’s a strong leader who won’t leave anybody behind and he’s just totally swoon worthy!
2. Akiva from Daughter of Smoke & Bone is a big one. He’s just so great. He’s an angel and he can kick some major butt, but he is really kind-hearted and caring once you get under that tough shell he puts up.
3. Adrian Ivashkov from Vampire Academy is another one. He’s just so sarcastic and funny. He’s caring and is willing to give his heart to a girl he knows will never love him more than another man.
4. And finally Dimitri Belikov from Vampire Academy as well (I just can’t choose!). He’s a strong fighter and has a strong sense of right and wrong. He’s also really close to his family and is just really caring and awesome.
Name 5 books that everyone should at least read once:
This is a really hard one.
- The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
- Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor
- Impulse by Ellen Hopkins
- Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
To be a first grade teacher. I’ve gone through phases where I wanted to do other things like becoming a marine biologist or a psychologist , but I’ve always returned to teaching. First grade is where children are starting to learn harder subjects for the first time (like reading!) and I feel that if I can help these students than it doesn’t matter how much money I do or don’t make I will have a great purpose in life.
What book are you most looking forward to reading?
Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo, it is the second in the Grisha series and isn’t supposed to come out until June 4, 2013. There are a bunch of others but this is the first one I thought of.
Thank you so much for having me ^.^! I love your blog and I hope you have a wonderful year in books! You are fantastic and I hope you gain a bunch more followers to see just how awesome your blog truly is.
It was so great getting to know you Sarah! Thanks so much for everything and for participating in my feature! I most definitely need to get my hands on Under the Never Sky! And The Great Gatsby is one of my favorites as well! I’m going to be rereading it before the new movie comes out!! xo
