Blog Name: Tar Heel Bibliobabe
What’s the story behind the blog name?
I am a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and their mascot is the Tar Heels! When I was brainstorming my name, it just came to me. I said ‘Tar Heel Bibliobabe,’ and I instantly loved it.
Why did you start to book blog and how long have you been book blogging?
I started to book blog because I wanted to connect with other people who love reading just as much as I do. I also wanted to be able to influence other people and make them aware of the abundance of amazing books that are out there!
Where is your favorite place to read?
I love reading in my bed because it is so quiet and serene. I may get interrupted a bit, but it’s the space that I feel most comfortable in.
Hardcover hands down! I love the physical presence of the book; it makes the experience more enjoyable to me. But even I cannot deny the convenience of having e-books. Whenever I am at someplace where I have to wait, it’s so nice to be able to whip out my phone and read on that. But still, hardcover is the best.
Favorite book of all-time and why?
Oh no. This question is so hard because there are so many. But if I had to pick, although it’s not so much a book but a series, I’d pick The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. I fell in love with this series from the first page and I manically read through the first 3 books, since they were thankfully out at that time. Clare’s writing is magical to me. I become so in tuned to her characters that they become frighteningly real every time I read the books. And no one can deny the allure of Jace! 😉
Do you have any blogs/bloggers that you look up to or that inspire you (feel free to name-drop)?
I really love Icey Books. She designed my totally amazing blog, and I love hearing what she has to say about books. Her recommendations are always really helpful when I am trying to decide what books I’d love. I trust her judgment. I also like I Like These Books and Katie’s Book Blog.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Besides reading? 🙂 I work at an animal hospital, which is such an amazing place. I am really close with my family and friends, so I love to be with them. I also love to eat a lot, and that can be time consuming.
Name a dessert, a color, a drink?
Brownies, hands down, purple, and chocolate milk.
If you could be one character, who would you be and why?
I would be Celaena Sardothien from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. This girl is a total bad-ass and can kill even the most monstrously huge guys. But she definitely has a sweet side despite her rough exterior.
How many books (on average) do you read a month?
I read around 12 and more books per month, depending on how busy I am with schoolwork.
What are your favorite book-to-movie adaptations? Why?
Harry Potter and the Hunger Games. I think both series were wonderfully portrayed on the big screen, with each character brought to life wonderfully. But The Mortal Instruments hasn’t come out yet, and I am beyond excited for that adaptation.
Do you have any book boyfriends? If so, name them and explain why?
Jace Wayland: He is so sarcastic and has had a rough life, with his ‘dad’ being a murderer and all, but underneath all that, he is such a sweetheart and will do absolutely anything for Clary.
Jem Carstairs: I have never wanted any character I have read about to have a happy ever after as much as I want him to. He is the epitome of a good boy who has a heart of gold.
Daemon Black: I love this snarky boy so much. Although I’d like to punch him sometimes, he has had my heart from the very beginning of the Lux series.
I have many more, so I’ll just list a couple…Adrian Ivashkov (swoon), Noah Shaw, Kaiden Rowe, and Warner!
Name 5 books that everyone should at least read once:
1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
2. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
3. Flawed by Kate Avelynn
4. Anything by Cassandra Clare
I want to go to medical school to become a cardiologist! I’ve wanted to be a doctor ever since I can remember.
What book are you most looking forward to reading?
The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead, Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, Unravel Me by Tarereh Mafi, Dare You To by Katie McGarry, Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout, and The Collector by Victoria Scott! Can’t wait for these!
Thanks so much for having me on your beautiful blog! I had a blast, and stop by if you’d like to chat about anything book-related! 🙂
