Hello and welcome to the first day of ABEA 2015! I’m super stoked that it is BEA time but I’m sad that I won’t be able to attend the wonderful festivities in NYC, so thankfully there is Armchair BEA (a virtual BEA) for all the people who cannot attend the in real life BEA. First post is all about intros so we were asked to answer 5 of questions of our choosing. Here are the ones I chose:
1. Tell us a bit about yourself: How long have you been blogging? Where are you from? How did you get into blogging?
Well, my name is Stephanie, I’m from Chicago, and I’m an avid reader and an aspiring author. I currently have probably 20 works in progress and that list just keeps getting bigger as more ideas flood through my brain. I am 25 years old and recently engaged. So not only is my time spent reading and writing but my brain is also hurting from planning a wedding and then having to pay for it. Which I’m not sure is going to be very easy considering between my fiance and I have about 300-350 invites to send out. 🙁 FML. I’ve been blogging on and off for about 3 years now (I think?). There was a year and a half that I spent over on Bookish with Evie and the rest of the girls there. But last November, I decided to come fully back to In Wonderland. I first got into blogging when I needed an outlet for all the feelings and opinions I had on the books that I was reading and I came across a book blog and I loved the idea of it. I don’t even know how I came about the book blog but after I saw that one, I decided to create my own. So, I did. And I have never regretted the decision!
2. What is one book everyone should read?
Compulsion by Martina Boone! I’m not just saying this because I’m on Martina’s street team. But I’m saying this because I love it so much! Martina’s writing is gorgeous. Her descriptions are vivid and mouthwatering (especially when she’s talking about food). Her characters are fun and deep and I would very much like to be their friends in real life. Anything Martina writes, is an autobuy for me. If you haven’t read this southern gothic novel (with some paranormal aspects) then you need to! Here’s my review, if you need more convincing! 🙂
3. What is your favorite genre and why?
My favorite genre is young adult. I’ll read practically anything that’s young adult. I like that most young adult novels can be crossovers to where adults can still relate to them. I know I still relate to them. I don’t think I will never NOT read young adult. I love Paranormal YA just as much as I love Contemporary YA. I’ve only recently gotten into Fantasy YA and I’m loving that too. As long as it sounds appealing, I’ll probably put it on my radar. 🙂
4. What book are you reading right now? (I’m actually reading quite a few books)
5. If you were stranded on a deserted island, what author would you want to bring with you? Why?
I would want to bring a few 🙂 I’d want to bring Martina Boone because I’d love to do a collaboration with her and stranded on an island seems like the perfect time to do that. But I’d also want to bring Sarah J. Maas and Susan Dennard because of their crazy friendship and because I love them so much and would want to collaborate with them as well. Plus, that just sounds like the best party ever!
Okay, so that’s my intro for now. When I get home I’ll take the #ABEAShelfie
