Elizabeth Valchar-pretty, popular, and perfect-wakes up the morning after her eighteenth birthday party on her family's yacht, where she'd been celebrating with her six closest friends. A persistent thumping noise has roused her. When she goes to investigate, what she finds will change everything she thought she knew about her life, her friends, and everything in between. As Liz begins to unravel the circumstances surrounding her birthday night, she will find that no one around her, least of all Liz herself, was perfect-or innocent. Critically acclaimed author Jessica Warman brings readers along on a roller-coaster ride of a mystery, one that is also a heartbreaking character study, a touching romance, and ultimately a hopeful tale of redemption, love, and letting go.

Hello, my Darlings!
Normally, I would show you all my favorite quotes from this novel (trust me, there were many!!) but, because of the way it’s written: I think it’s best if you just go pick it up yourself. I don’t want to accidentally spoil the reveal! I LOVED this story. It was one of those books that I just so happened to pick up while I was browsing around a book store. I had never heard anything about it, but was super intrigued by the cover art and the synopsis.
This story not only surprised me, but left me thinking about it for weeks after I finished it. Liz is one of the most unexpectedly relateable/identifiable characters to read from. She is so naive, and makes so many mistakes. But, it’s her self actualization innocence that makes the story. Her thoughts are captivating, and you basically pick this up and are thrown into the most chaotic and harsh times of Liz’s life. She takes you with her, and she tells you everything, and you find yourself feeling just as petrified and determined to figure out whats going on as she is.
I think I loved this book so much because it’s so unlike anything I’ve ever read. I love a good mystery, but this ended up being so much more than that. It’s all action, just enough unexpected romance, and ridiculous levels of suspense you can barely put it down. Basically think of a more morbid/more shock factor Pretty Little Liars. Warman writes in a very simple way. you start off thinking this is just like every other YA Contemporary and then all of a sudden you can’t read fast enough. Once I hit the last hundred pages, I had permanent goose bumps. It’s not the kind of horror you would find in Sci-fi it’s your everyday backstabbing friends, cruel school girl horror. Which ironically enough feels even scarier, especially to post high school Young Adults like me.
Seriously, just go grab this. I don’t understand how this novel doesn’t have more people talking about it. It’s a standalone you neeeeed in your life. Prepare for a serious trip (pun intended) through the the haunted house. And probably one of the most surprisingly YA novel experiences you will ever have.

So, What do you think??

Oooh this one sounds exciting! I haven’t heard of it before but I love edge of your seat mysteries and action plus the characters and the romance have my interest too! I think I already know what’s going t happen though but I hope my prediction if true will have many more twists and turns that I didn’t see coming!
