This is what it means to love someone. This is what it means to grieve someone. It's a little bit like a black hole. It's a little bit like infinity.
Gottie H. Oppenheimer is losing time. Literally. When the fabric of the universe around her seaside town begins to fray, she's hurtled through wormholes to her past:
To last summer, when her grandfather Grey died. To the afternoon she fell in love with Jason, who wouldn't even hold her hand at the funeral. To the day her best friend Thomas moved away and left her behind with a scar on her hand and a black hole in her memory.
Although Grey is still gone, Jason and Thomas are back, and Gottie's past, present, and future are about to collide—and someone's heart is about to be broken.
With time travel, quantum physics, and sweeping romance, The Square Root of Summer is an exponentially enthralling story about love, loss, and trying to figure it all out, from stunning debut YA voice, Harriet Reuter Hapgood.
My Thoughts
This one was a little lost on me. While I liked the idea of it, I just didn’t feel like it was executed properly. By the time I finished it, I couldn’t even tell you what I had just read. But I’ve read quite a few reviews from people who enjoyed this book. I was just way too confused.
Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat

From global phenomenon C. S. Pacat comes the first in her critically acclaimed trilogy—with a bonus story.
Damen is a warrior hero to his people, and the rightful heir to the throne of Akielos. But when his half brother seizes power, Damen is captured, stripped of his identity, and sent to serve the prince of an enemy nation as a pleasure slave.
Beautiful, manipulative, and deadly, his new master, Prince Laurent, epitomizes the worst of the court at Vere. But in the lethal political web of the Veretian court, nothing is as it seems, and when Damen finds himself caught up in a play for the throne, he must work together with Laurent to survive and save his country.
For Damen, there is just one rule: never, ever reveal his true identity. Because the one man Damen needs is the one man who has more reason to hate him than anyone else…
Includes an exclusive extra story!
My Thoughts
This one, sadly, was a DNF for me. I got about 15% in and either this book isn’t for me OR it just wasn’t the right time for me to read it. But by the time I got to 15%, I just couldn’t stay focused and it felt like a chore for me trying to read it. This is another one that has glowing reviews. In fact, Dana loved it! I believe she gave it 4 stars!
What Are We Reading in July?

Challenges
We also have a section within the book club designated for Challenges. As of right now, I’m very fond of the Color Cover Challenge. The month of July’s colors are BLUE and/or WHITE. Meaning you can read 1 blue book or 1 white book or both! The amount is up to you! If you want to join in on that click here!
We are also hoping to do a READATHON in the month of July. Details on that will be later on!
