New Year, New Me: Goals for 2020

Posted January 1, 2020 by Stephanie in Discussion, Update / 3 Comments

Happy New Year!

Can you believe that we are in a new year already? I for one can’t. I feel like it was only a few months ago that I was in the hospital giving birth to my son and in reality it was actually almost a full year ago.

I also cannot believe that we are now in a whole new DECADE! Like, what?! Where is the time going?! Can’t it just slow down a little bit?

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! Our family has been kicking that flu’s butt for the past week. It’s been brutal here in the house, but thankfully, everyone is on the mend and hopefully this weekend will be a relaxing one! But I have had a chance to think of what my goals are and what I’d like to accomplish.

So, what are my goals for this upcoming year?

Eat Healthier & Hopefully Work Out

I really need to lose some of this baby weight that hasn’t gone away yet. I’m not sure if it was because I had a C-Section with my son that the weight just kinda sits there because I dropped the pounds from my daughter rather quickly, but never got back to my pre-baby weight before getting pregnant for the second time. So, now I’m hoping to not only drop the pounds from Paul’s pregnancy but also to get back to my weight that I was for my wedding or even lower.

Read at least 80 books

Ideally I’d love to read 100 books, but I figured pick a lower number and hopefully I’ll surpass it. I know I can do it, it’s just a matter of making sure I read more rather than playing a game on my phone, etc.

Finish a First Draft

I have plans to finish a first draft of a bakery romance that I’m writing with my bestie, Dana. But I’m also hoping to finish a first draft of a solo project of mine too. I just have to keep myself accountable. Any ideas on how to do that?

Stick to Bullet Journaling

I’ve started bullet journaling in the past and I never stuck with it. Last year I tried a reading bujo and stuck with it for a solid 7 or 8 months but then got super busy with work and life and it just kind of fell by the wayside. I’m again attempting it this year, but I’m going in it with imperfection in mind. I’m a pretty big perfectionist, always have been when it comes to my work and honestly, I think it’s a form of procrastination. It’s probably why I haven’t finished a first draft yet. But that all changes this year! I’m planning on doing some blog posts with some pictures and even thinking about starting an IG for my journaling journey.

Blog More

I wasn’t kidding when I said I missed blogging. I’m really hoping to get a lot more blogging in because I’ve missed all of you so very much! I’ve missed gushing about books with all of you. It’s a void that’s been in my life since well, pretty much I started popping out babies. But it’s time that I get some of my “me time” back!

What are your goals for 2020?

I’m Back!

Posted December 5, 2019 by Stephanie in Discussion, Update / 6 Comments

To my readers who are still with me: hello and thank you for still being here! I’ve missed you all and cannot wait to catch up!

To those of you who are new: Hello and welcome to In Wonderland Book Blog. A blog where I gush over my latest reads that range from Children’s to Adult. I also talk a lot about TV/Movies and my writing processes. I cannot wait to get to know you all!

I’ve taken a rather long hiatus, again. It’s been a very busy and hectic couple of years. Back in January, I had all these plans and posts half drafted so that I could get back into the blogging world and then I gave birth to my beautiful son, Paul a whole month early and everything just kind of fell flat for me.

Over the past (almost) year

I’ve kept up with reading. I just finished my 60th book last night. And I’ve been journal-ing my bookish escapes through a spreadsheet on Google Sheets and through a bullet journal/my planner.

I’ve participated in Nanowrimo this past November and while I didn’t win the 50k, I still consider myself a winner because I did my personal best and stuck with ONE project this past November and wrote just over 23k words for it so far. The only time I’ve ever won Nano was when I was working on 3 different projects at once.

I’ve been super busy with my family. It seems like our weekends fill up way too fast and with me being a full time worker and mother, I feel like I barely have any “me” time. So, I stay up way too late to get my shows and reading in before I have to start all over the next day.

What can you expect from this return?

Well, I really miss having an outlet in the bookish community to talk about all the things I want to talk about. So, get ready to see more discussion posts, more lists, more posts about tv shows and movies (regardless of if they were originally books or not) and more writing posts.

I’m really wanting to be a part of the community again and so I’ll probably hop on Twitter and Instagram more often. I do miss taking bookish photos even though they can get super time consuming.

I’d even want to see if I can venture into the world of booktube or authortube this year. I need to do some research because I don’t have a camera (other than my Samsung phone and my web camera on my 6 year old HP laptop) Plus, I’m not the greatest at editing. But if this is an avenue that people want to see more of, I will definitely look into it.

Readathons! Over the past year I’ve participated in many readathons and loved every second of it. You’ll see more readathon posts and maybe even a new readathon created by yours truly 🙂

Reading Challenges… I’m on the fence about them. I really love the idea of challenging myself. But at the same time, I feel like I’m constantly failing at them. So, we will see about those.

Book Club!! Back in the day, Dana (from DanaSquare) and I had a book club called Square in Wonderland… well, I think I might dust it off and bring it back to life. What do you guys think?

I’m also going to try and work on a new style to the blog. I feel like it needs a fresh new look.

So, let’s talk!

How have you all been? What has your 2019 been like? Are you excited to jump into a new decade?
