Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer:
The Worst Character Death

So let’s just say that this character may be only one-half of the equation, that he’s a part of a troublesome (and handsome) duo, that you almost never see one without the other. Let’s also say that this characters death stabbed me in the heart so fiercely that I can still feel that aches and pains from it each time I watch the movie or read the book. Who might this character be? Well, Fred Weasley of course!
I think the part that kills me the most about this death, is the thought of George having to live the rest of his life without his true other half. They both try to always see some humor in any situation and try to make things better when darkness is closing in on everyone else. It’s a dimming of a light in a time when the situation already seems pretty dark.
To make matters worse, no parent should ever have to bury their child, but then to have someone around who will always remind them of the child they lost during the Battle, that’s just horrific. It takes some serious amount of work to get over any death and I can only imagine how much it took for the Weasley’s to repair after this death.

Let’s Talk About It!

What do you think? Is Fred’s death really the worst death of Harry Potter and any other well known bookish deaths?
