A witch and a revenant. One full of life, the other technically dead. Fifer and Schuyler's relationship is nothing if not unusual. Some might even call it ill-advised. But try as they might to push each other away, something keeps bringing them back together.
Then a force stronger than their attraction comes between them: Lord Blackwell, the Inquisitor and most powerful man in Anglia. He sends Schuyler on a mission--a mythical sword, rumored to make its owner invincible, lies somewhere in Anglia and it's Schuyler's job to find it.
Meanwhile, left behind in Harrow with her studies, Fifer can't help but worry what's become of her undead paramour. Schuyler's been missing for weeks and Fifer may be the one who can--or who cares enough to--find him.
If you read my King Slayer review, then you might remember me mentioned just how much I love Fifer and Schuyler. So, it stands to reason that I was definitely counting down the days until The Chase released. And boy, was it satisfying. I loved getting inside Fifer and Schuyler’s heads, and their connection was so fascinating to explore. I adored how closely this story tied in with both The Witch Hunter and The King Slayer. I thought the time period in which this story spanned was perfect, although I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want the entire series retold from Fifer and Schuyler’s perspective. I don’t think I can say that I love these two enough. They’re addicting. So addicting that I think I read this novella about, say….10 times in the first week of its release. Honestly, if you liked Fifer and Schuyler in The Witch Hunter series, then you’re going to fall in love with them with this novella. And if you already loved them, well then, get ready for a new obsession.
